Celebrating Diversity: 8 Startups Selected for XLerateHealth’s 2023 Flagship Accelerator Program

XLerateHealth (XLH) is proud to introduce its highly diverse 2023 cohort, featuring over 75% women and/or minority-led startups across medical device, digital health, and drug development sectors. Set to start on Thursday July 13th and culminate with a virtual Demo Day pitch on Thursday October 5th, the XLH accelerator program is expected to bring groundbreaking ideas to life as seen through its alumni companies that have secured various financing rounds since 2013.

XLerateHealth (XLH) is proud to announce the selection of eight startups for its 2023 flagship accelerator program. With locations in Louisville, KY, and Flint, MI, this is a momentous occasion for the nationally recognized healthcare accelerator. CEO and co-founder Jackie Wilmot noted that this year’s cohort is particularly special, with over 75% of the startups founded and led by women and/or minority entrepreneurs. The program boasts a diverse mix of medical device, digital health, and drug development companies.

Recently, XLH alumni companies have seen tremendous success. Liberate Medical (XLH 2013) closed a $6.2M Series B financing round on July 5, 2023. Liberate is an innovative leader in the development of novel non-invasive neurostimulation devices, aiming to revolutionize respiratory care. RxLightning (XLH 2021), the industry’s first comprehensive platform for streamlining specialty medication access and affordability, closed a $17.5 million Series A round June 6, 2023. Atalan Tech (XLH 2022), founded by Harvard, Yale and Oxford researchers and graduate students, successfully closed a $2.5 million Seed round June 1, 2023 for their early warning and monitoring platform designed to predict and prevent clinician burnout and turnover in healthcare systems. XLerateHealth is proud to see the success of these alumni companies and looks forward to continued success from the current cohort.

The current cohort kicks off on Thursday July 13th and will culminate with a virtual Demo Day pitch to investors, healthcare ecosystem partners, and the startup community on Thursday October 5th.

Anbiome Life Sciences (Cheshire, CT):
Anbiome Life Sciences specializes in fermentation-based technology and a novel bioactive compound that has the potential to revolutionize cancer therapy side effects.

EmpoweRx (Nashville, TN):
EmpoweRx is a tech platform designed to empower clinicians through business education courses to start and run their own practice.

FreezeNit™ (Boston, MA):
FreezeNit™ is an eco-friendly treatment for drug resistant “super lice” that requires only a single treatment session.

Lastly, FreezeNit™ is an eco-friendly treatment for drug resistant “super lice” that requires only a single treatment session.

Hidoc Dr. (Sheridan, WY) is revolutionizing clinician collaboration with its AI-enabled global networking and learning platform for physicians. It provides evidence-based medical second opinions and case discussions to make healthcare more efficient and effective. Meanwhile, Lung Technologies (Seattle, WA) is a pre-surgical digital platform that works to prevent post-surgical complications like Pulmonary Atelectasis and Deep Vein Thrombosis by targeting poor venous blood flow in the lower legs and lungs. MErald.io (Washington, D.C.) is providing black patients with unprecedented access to quality mental health care through virtual clinical care, immersive therapy, and trauma tools. These three companies are making tremendous strides in transforming healthcare and creating meaningful positive social change.

MNDYRR Technologies (Philippi, WV) is no exception, offering a teletherapy and social network platform to help child welfare and education professionals better understand and connect with traumatized youth. NonBinary Solutions (Lexington, KY) is also making waves in the healthcare industry, providing a systematic and standardized approach to treatment planning through its Clinical Decision Support Systems for autism service providers. With these innovative solutions, the future of healthcare looks brighter than ever.

XLerateHealth’s accelerator program provides comprehensive support for start-up founders looking to launch their healthcare innovation. The program includes mentorship, guidance, access to capital, and networking opportunities with industry experts. With this program, XLH is committed to helping entrepreneurs create products and services that will make a positive impact in the healthcare industry. Through the accelerator program, XLH has supported numerous founders in launching new businesses and products that have gone on to become successful companies.

XLerateHealth is an organization with a proud mission of cultivating and growing impactful healthcare innovation in parts of the country where it often goes unrecognized and underfunded. Since founding in 2012, XLH has supported the development of healthcare innovation through their accelerator program for start-up founders and through leading the efforts to build and operate the XLerator Network – an NIH-funded partnership with 24 other academic institutions in the Southeast. The goal of this work is to increase the commercialization of life science and healthcare innovations in the NIH-designated Southeast Institutional Development Award (IDeA) states.

XLerateHealth is thrilled to welcome an especially diverse new fair of“rock-star” startups to its 2023 Accelerator. With alumni companies achieving the highest order of success like closing tremendous Series B and Series A rounds, XLH looks forward to continued progress and development from this years inspiring cohort. The eight selected signees are sure to make lots of noise once the accelerator session culminates with Demo Day – investors, partners in the healthcare system, and tech community global-wide are sure to take notice.
