Sheridan Iron Works is about to transform, as Forge Physio and Performance owners Chancellor Perry and Mike Alzheimer plan to turn the welding shop into a 24-hour gym. Not only will it be a fantastic place to work out with all the amenities, including nutrition counseling, massage therapy, physical therapy, and personal training. Perry and his business partner highly appreciated the unique approach of preserving the structure’s original shape to keep some of its charms as it transitions to a complete gym space.
Where They Were
Derek Gilbert revived Sheridan Iron Works when he purchased the building in 2016, and he has been hard at work ever since to rebuild it into a fully functioning machine shop. Since then, various businesses have been passing through its doors – most recently being Tucker Goss, who ran a welding business in 2018 and 2019. Go Fast Don’t Die has now filled the space following his departure. Many people are willing to participate in this machine shop’s rich history, dating back to manufacturing brass valves for submarines in World War II. It is still going strong today, making irrigation systems for the state and the rest of the country and offering a unique service to anyone who needs help with metal fabrication. The future looks bright for Sheridan Iron Works!
Perry’s desire to stay active during the COVID-19 pandemic and the shortage of available workout gear sparked the idea for Forge Physio and Performance. With his prior experience as a physical training leader in the Air Force and skills gained through working on ranches, he taught himself how to weld and used his garage as a shop to create unique pieces of workout equipment.
When Perry’s garage started bustling with customers and equipment, he moved his business to Broadway Street. It was there that he met his future business partner, Alzheimer, a physical therapy school graduate with a dream of opening up a gym and physical therapy clinic. Together, they moved their operations into the adjacent silver shop alongside Sheridan Iron Works. With some help from the city, this dynamic duo is inching closer to bringing their dream of creating an inspiring community gym into reality! The partners have even been able to start forming a powerlifting group within the small shop space until the gym is fully operational.
Where They Are Headed
Alzheimer and Perry have been working hard to finish their project before the end of the year. They pay close attention to everything to get the results they need to build a top-tier gym while keeping customer safety and satisfaction top of mind. Gilbert expresses his enthusiasm for being part of such a momentous venture in the history of Sheridan Iron Works by saying, “It is an honor to be a part of Sheridan Iron Works’ history.” We want to do the building justice and make it excellent for Sheridan and its residents.” They certainly hope their hard work leads to an enjoyable space for locals to come together, work out, and form positive relationships with one another.
